So Far From Heaven

So Far From Heaven

So far from heaven we are

And yet…

The sun caresses sleepy, violet hills

The windless ocean shifts and sighs

Worn-down dunes are soaked and dripping

With the white of moonlight

Cradled in the evening hush

A cracked and crumbling path

Is adorned with the last flaming leaves of autumn

As springs sweet blossoms reach to test the air

There is the fragrance of jasmine

And an earthy dampness from the evening dew

Graceful shadows dance in the glow of twilight

And his eyes

His eyes

They mirror the deepest ocean

So far from heaven are we

And yet….
