At Dawn

At Dawn

Before the gates of the dawning day

Watching the sky turn from peach to purple

An errant breeze unfolds gentle haze and mist

Scatters their wispy, rosy remnants

Clouds latticed with soft sunshine

Fragrant air, still night damp

Heavy with dew this velvet moment

Shades of intangible light

Sweet awakenings of morning broken

The things of the day taking shape

As the night passes behind the window
