Your Face Is All I See

Your Face Is All I See

We stood

Hand in hand

At the edge

Of the unknown

The warmth

Of your skin

Next to mine

The waves

Sobbed endlessly

As they washed away

Our sorrow

We were melting

Dissolving in love

The unseen tide

Drew us within

We never sensed

The fragile ground

On which we built

Our dreams

But now the sea

Gives me the true notes

Of her melancholy

The shadow of the storm

Is always close

The rushing sound

Of the sand

The rhythm of change

It was raining then

Just like today

The relentless tide

Still tugs unseen

The waves sigh

Into the aching void

And yet

Your face

Is all I see

And your voice

Is all I that echoes

Back to me

    1. Thanks Daniel – I get the same feelings from this one – I don’t often set out to write about specific things (except in haikus!) but I just start with a feeling or a thought and let it travel – then I look back at it and try and figure out what it meant!
