Hope Rises

Hope Rises

As the roses fade

And as the sudden pall of winter

Once again falls

The shadows in her eyes reveal

How many days

Have escaped her

And how his name echoes

From the silence within

Every day, hope rises

On her finely fashioned wings

And how much she wants to fly

To drift higher on the winds

She whispers

The longing of her heart

And she is restless of wanting

Aching

For what is out of reach

She is longing

For a glimpse of her beloved

To catch the dream that he was

To reach his distant shores

And then

Drifting down with the tide

To land in his eyes

From where she can see

That still she is beautiful

Which deep down

She knows

But a moment in time

Between them

A tender kiss

And she has found

A place to land

And one again, in him

She has found

Herself
