To Echo Alone

To Echo Alone

Softly flickering candle light

The tapping at the window

Is only rain

And time stands still

A breeze through a cracked pane

Shadows on the walls

Of crowded, empty rooms

Watching the sky fade

Amid the dying embers of the day

Gently a leaf falls

To echo alone
