Beauty, Like Time, Travels With You
The summer came with flowers and orchids
Fragrances from a thousand different blossoms
On rafts of lilac tinted cloud that glide
In to a turquoise sky’s infinitude
Arrayed in silken sunshine through a haze
Long diaphanous draperies of silken gauze
As gossamer on an otherworldly breeze
The jasmine blossoms, white Jasmine tears
And the scent of roses, blooms as dark as indigo
With secret petals, centred in the throat
They glow amid the afternoon
Incomparably bright
And they intermingle, dissonantly sweet
A sanguine lotus flower
Whose heart of flame
Melts and transmutes sensual desire
Which its unfolding petals freely strew
Before its flames expire
Petals in loose and ruffled opulence
Fleetingly glimpsed, then shyly disappear
Blue infinitude
A gold tincture shines through every part
A landscape, richer than antique brocade
Sparkles with intermittent drops of light
A swarming galaxy of bright gold motes
Down a slanting shaft of sunshine floats
Whence scatterings of petal showers
Spread on the ground a carpet
Soft and deep
All evaporate before they wither
Beauty, like time, travels with you
